Co-CEO
Having over 20 years of management experience in the software industry, Jim Hendrickson took the helm of Onco, Inc. in late 2007. Prior to his work as Onco’s CEO, he was the Technical Director and Database Architect for a little over a decade. In this role, he helped make the transition from the DOS version of ONCOLog to Windows and oversaw the development of several new product lines including the Quality Indicator Module as well as development of ONCONav. Before joining the Onco, Inc. team, Jim worked at a small software company in Northern N.J. as their project manager for all web related applications. As a programmer and avid technology guru, Jim remains intimately involved in all aspects of product development and technical support. His commitment to customer satisfaction and product reliability are the defining principles of ONCO Inc.
Medical Director and Founder
Dr. Ted Williamson and his wife, Eileen, founded ONCO Inc. in 1983 based on the idea that cancer registry data is a unique and powerful tool in the fight against cancer. Having achieved his B.S. in Engineering Physics and PhD in Nuclear Engineering from The University of Washington he began his career as a graduate school physics professor. An opportunity to participate as a consultant in the development of a new radiation therapy facility led to an appreciation for the cancer fighting power of radiation and his first experience developing a computer-based cancer registry. For nearly two decades, Dr. Williamson served as the President of ONCO Inc. In 2000, a small group of software engineers purchased ONCO, Inc. with the condition that Dr. Williamson stay on as Medical Director of the company. To this day Dr. Williamson is a trusted advisor to the team at ONCO.
COO
Brad joined Onco in March of 2019 from Sentara Healthcare, a 12-hospital health system where he served as their Oncology Service Line Director. During his time there, he was involved in multiple successful Integrated Network Cancer Program (INCP) CoC Accreditations, helped launch their CT Lung Screening program, and managed both a Network-wide Cancer Registry and an Oncology Nurse Navigation team. He previously served on NCRA’s Council on Certification and Job Analysis Task Force and is a former member of the NCRA Informatics Committee. His current role at Onco is to develop and implement strategic initiatives to grow ONCO Professional Services and our oncology navigation software, OncoNav.
Vice President, Business Development
Leah began her registry career in 2005, working in a multi-facility health system. She has primarily served in leadership roles throughout her career, managing and directing cancer registries, CoC program accreditations, and specialty NCI cancer registry workgroups. Leah has also held national leadership positions such as President and Public Relations and Communications Director for the National Cancer Registrars Association and was an Associate Editor and section co-author for the Cancer Registry Management, 4th Edition textbook. As Vice President of Business Development, her primary focus is analyzing business opportunities and strategic growth initiatives and supporting ONCO’s vision. Having experienced the critical need for timely and accessible cancer registry data through her years of working with senior leaders and principal investigators, she has a comprehensive understanding of software’s essential role in an organization. Additionally, Leah emphasizes working collaboratively with the client and ONCO’s Support and Professional Services teams to ensure they achieve their goals and maximize the benefits of ONCO’s products and services.
As a Pacific Northwest native, Leah loves hiking in the mountains of central Oregon, snowshoeing, cross-country skiing, stand-up paddle boarding, gardening, and photography in her free time.
VP Client Services and Implementations
Sheryl began her career in Cancer Registry in 1988 and has worked at multiple facilities in the mid-Atlantic region. She has 20+ years of managerial experience and extensive knowledge of registry operations and accreditation requirements. Sheryl has also worked as an independent contract registrar and consultant as well as at the state registry level. Sheryl has been employed at ONCO since 2017 and has worked as the Senior Client Services Manager and the Manager of Abstracting Services prior to her current position as Vice President of Client Services and Implementations.
Director of Application Services
Novy joined the ONCO Team in 2002 and currently serves as Director of Application Services. She received her undergraduate degree at the University of Washington. She previously worked in a university-based cancer registry while she was studying at the university and continued after graduation to excel in her knowledge and experience in both the cancer registry and healthcare education. Novy earned and became certified as a tumor registrar (CTR) prior to joining the ONCO Team.
In her role as Director of Application Services, she is involved in a variety of tasks such as being a liaison for the standard setters, participating in our software development, and serving as a resource for our team and other areas within the company. She is happy to be part of the ONCO team which provides her with many opportunities and broadens her horizons in the healthcare oncology area.
When she is not working, she enjoys cooking and listening to music, traveling to different countries, and exploring their cuisine and culture. She has been to more than 20 countries and will continue to plan on conquering the rest of her bucket list.
Director of Abstracting Services
Amanda Geerhart, MBA, ODS is the Director of Abstracting Services with 16 years of Oncology experience and has been a CTR since 2013. In her career, Amanda has held responsibility for the strategic and operational direction of various quality of cancer care and innovative care models, including oversight of multiple ACoS Commission on Cancer Accreditations and Oncology Care Model participation. Amanda believes having high-quality Cancer Registry data is imperative to driving patient care improvements at the local, state, and national levels.
Manager Abstracting Services
Trisha has been in the Cancer Registry vocation for over 20 years and a CTR since 2005. She started in the Cancer Registry profession in a local community hospital, then worked as a nationwide consultant, and now works as Manager of Abstracting Services at ONCO. She has worked at ONCO since 2008 and her responsibilities include various duties from orientation, training, partnering with clients, and Quality Control of cancer registry data. In addition to her position at ONCO, she works as an Adjunct Instructor at the University of Cincinnati in the Cancer Registry Management Program.
Cancer Registry has blessed her life for over 20 years and as a volunteer, she is able to give back to others what she has freely received. As a teacher, mentor, and trainer she contributes to helping others grow and succeed as strong cancer registry professionals. As cancer treatment changes, she believes cancer registrars need to change.
